Paintball is a sport that began in the US in the early 1980's. Players are equipped with compressed gas powered guns (often referrd to as "markers") that fire paint-filled balls at each other. The basic idea behind the sport is to eliminate the opponent by hitting them with the paintballs. Many times, players will have to capture a flag that is placed somewhere field, without being hit.

Unlike many sports, paintball can be played by almost all ages. Typically in a sport there are certain age groups that are divided up so that the game is played fairly and no one person is advantaged by their age. In paintball, intelligence, teamwork and knowledge of the equipment plays a far greater role. As such, it is not uncommon to see 12-year-old kids playing with their 40+ year old fathers. Paintball is a sport that all ages can enjoy on an equal level.
